Golden Canyon, Death Valley National Park, Nevada USA

Golden Canyon, like other canyons in the park, was formed millions of years ago. As the water receded from the area, alluvial fan piled on top of each other compressing the rocks, mud, slits and sand into cement-like conglomerates which were then pushed upwards by geological activities. Along the hike, a colourful mosaic of colours is visible in the canyon walls.
The hike, from start to the landmark, Red Cathedral, is approx. 2 miles roundtrip, and is an easy walk.
