USA Picture Lake and Mt. Shuksan

Photography Mt. Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake. Catch the right light for a trophy shot. But first, spend the day hiking around Artist Point.

Set up your shot to catch a nice reflection. There are platforms with ideal locations for photographers. Watch out for weeds floating in the lake. Evening photos work well. Hang out, because the light changes quickly and you can catch a glimpse of alpenglow that lasts for a short while.

Start in Bellingham, Washington. Go East on the Mt. Baker Highway, through the hamlet of Glacier and onto Mt. Baker Ski Area. There is a short circle of one-way traffic. Find a parking spot and explore. Take the road up to the end for more opportunities at Artist Point. (A Forest Service Pass is required. Buy one in Glacier, or at sports shops in Bellingham).
