This is one of two spots along Highway 2 in the Tumwater Canyon that all the professionals take their work shops to photograph. It has it all: river and fall colors.

Photography Tips

Your best timing for this shot is about the third week of October. Arrive early in the morning before the crowds and look for a cloudy day for that nice sky and slow shutter speeds. Bring your polarizer.

Travel Information

On Highway 2 just west of the city limits and at the bend of the road you will find parking on the north side and walk carefully across the road to a pullout on the south side which will give you the perfect spot.
