Cinder Cone is a young volcano in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Erupted 350 years ago and made up almost entirely of black pebble textured cinders.

This view is from the top, about 100m up, but probably better landscape views from ground level.

Travel Information

Parking at Butte Lake, will need to purchase a park pass to enter. Approx 3km hike from parking lot, fairly difficult since it is on loose gravel. Remote area, bring water.
