The area transforms at sunset, with golden and purple tones reflecting off the water, creating stunning opportunities for wide and low-angle landscape shots.

Photography Tips

Sunset is the best time to visit, especially when the river is low and more of the rock beds are exposed. Bring a tripod and experiment with long exposures (1–3 seconds) to soften water movement or capture reflections. A wide-angle lens works well to emphasize the foreground rocks and pull in the vibrant skies.

Travel Information

Falls of the Ohio State Park is located in Clarksville, Indiana, just across the river from downtown Louisville. Parking is available at the visitor center, and the fossil bed area is a short walk from there. Surfaces can be uneven and slippery, so watch your step when exploring closer to the water.
