USA Gatliff Memorial Bridge – Cumberland Falls State Resort Park
The Edward Moss Gatliff Memorial Bridge is a picturesque stone arch bridge located just downstream from Cumberland Falls in southeastern Kentucky. Surrounded by dense forest, this area transforms into a painterly scene during autumn as fog rises from the river and morning light filters through colorful trees. It’s a peaceful, lesser-known spot that captures the timeless beauty of the Appalachian landscape.
Photography Tips
Best shot during early morning when fog forms above the Cumberland River, creating a soft, dreamy atmosphere. A tripod and telephoto lens help isolate the bridge and surrounding trees through the mist. Fall is the ideal season for color, though the scene also works beautifully in winter fog or soft spring light.
Travel Information
Located inside Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, the bridge can be accessed from the main road just before reaching the falls parking area. There’s a small pull-off nearby for parking and easy access to the riverbank. Be cautious near the water — the rocks can be slick, especially in the morning dew or fog.
