Catalpa Road in Lexington is one of the city’s most magical fall destinations, lined with massive ginkgo trees that turn a brilliant shade of gold in late October and early November. The canopy stretches over the street, creating a glowing tunnel of color that feels like stepping into a painting. It’s a short residential stretch but an unforgettable autumn scene that draws photographers every year.

Peak color typically hits in late October to early November, depending on weather. Mornings and late afternoons provide the softest light that enhances the warm yellow tones. Bring a wide-angle lens to capture the full arch of the trees, and visit early to avoid parked cars or foot traffic.

Catalpa Road is located near the Ashland neighborhood in Lexington, just a few minutes from downtown. Street parking is limited but available along side roads. Please be mindful of residents and traffic, as this is an active neighborhood. The best section for photos is between Cochran Road and Fontaine Road.
