USA Point Lookout, Mackinac Island

Point Lookout at Mackinac Island is a nice hike through the huge forest that is in the middle of the island. From the viewpoint you can see nearly all over the island.

Mackinac Island itself is a popular Michigan destination known for its historic charm and scenic lake views. The island is famous for its ban on cars, so visitors get around by walking, biking, or taking a horse-drawn carriage. Highlights include Fort Mackinac, Victorian architecture, and the island’s well-known fudge shops. It’s a relaxing place to enjoy nature, history, and a slower pace.

You need a special permit for this island. Please get it early before your stay and register yourself on the homepage of the island. There is a fee you need to pay.

In general: In the USA you need to get your drone license and finish the registration process.

You reach Mackinac Island by ferry from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace, with boats running frequently throughout the day in season. Once you arrive, the island is completely car-free, so visitors get around by walking, biking, or taking a horse-drawn carriage. It gives the whole place a quiet, timeless atmosphere that you feel the moment you step off the boat.


To explore the State Park you need to hike for around 12 kilometer. It is an easy hike. No special fitness level required.
