USA El Cap and Half Dome

This spot should not be confused with a location know as Tunnel View. This location is at a narrow but safe turnout along Wawona Road approximately 1.5 miles east of Tunnel View. From here you get a great view of Half Dome, the most iconic rock face in Yosemite NP. From Tunnel View Half Dome looks quite small. The down fall of this location is not seeing Bridalveil Falls like you do at Tunnel View.

This location is best in the mid to late afternoon when the sun is rich. My photograph is not great as I wasn't there at a good time and just wanted to record this location for people to consider a different view of these iconic features.

If you are traveling West, into the park, use extreme caution when parking as you will have to cross the lane toward possible oncoming traffic. Or you can find a safe place to make a U turn and come back to this turnout. The turnout is very long a nice and wide.
