This is a great location to photograph Half Dome. This image was made as the last light of day was hitting the face of the dome. I made this image at 6:00pm, January 24, 2026.

Photography Tips

Any time of year is good for this beautiful location. My favorite time to shoot it is in the afternoon.

Travel Information

You will need to park where I dropped the marker at Church Bowl Picnic Area along the road to the Ahwahnee Hotel, cross the street towards the meadow, then walk down the path south from the parking area.
