Wild Horse Butte, located near Goblin Valley State Park in Utah, is a stunning mountain characterised by a striking stripe that runs through the rock, giving it an almost sculpted appearance.

Photography Tips

Besides the butte itself, the surrounding rock formations are highly photogenic, especially in the soft morning light. Nearby, Goblin Valley State Park is well worth exploring. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions for visiting this high-desert location.

Travel Information

Access is via Temple Mountain Road, which branches west from Highway 24 about 35 km north of Hanksville and leads toward Goblin Valley Road. Shortly before reaching Goblin Valley State Park, turn onto Wild Horse Road, then take a gravel road soon after. There is plenty of space to park and explore the area from there.
