It’s worth exploring the area on foot to find different angles on the rock formations. Both a wide-angle lens and a telephoto can work well, depending on whether you want to capture the scale or isolate details. This spot is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, and even at night thanks to its remote location and dark skies. Spring or fall offer the most pleasant and comfortable conditions for visiting this high-desert landscape.

Cathedral Valley is only accessible via a long backcountry drive that typically requires a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle. Roads can become impassable after rain due to mud, so always check conditions in advance. The drive takes several hours, depending on the route, and there is no camping allowed.
