USA Ubehebe Crater
In the north of Death Valley National Park lies a volcanic crater field. The most striking of these craters is the Ubehebe Crater. According to Wikipedia, Ubehebe is a Native American word meaning "large basket in the rock". Roughly two thousand years ago, magma came into contact with groundwater here, which led to an explosion of steam and gas. The crater is 230 metres deep and has a diameter of around one kilometre.
