USA Kolob Terrace Road
The scenery on the narrow winding road is beautiful all the way from SR9 in Virgin, Utah to Cedar City for most of the year. During winter, the road is snow covered and eventually goes from paved to dirt/gravel road and is impassable after 15 miles.
Photography Tips
I like the flexibility of a 24-105mm lens here.
Travel Information
From the intersection of roads SR9 and Kolob Terrace Road, turn north and drive fifteen miles to a pullout on the left. A narrow but well defined trail leads west from the pullout. Follow the trail roughly WNW up the sandstone keeping the large alcove on your right. (During winter, SR9 is closed a few yards past the pullout where the snow isn’t cleared from the road and the pullout is used strictly used to turn around. A “No Parking “ sign is placed at the pullout in those circumstances.)
