USA Setting Hen
Setting Hen is a sandstone formation in Monument Valley, known for its unusual shape. From the right angle, the rock resembles the claw of a giant crab rising from the desert, making it one of the more distinctive formations in the area. It can be seen from US-163 on Navajo Nation land.
Photography Tips
A telephoto lens works best here. Sunrise and sunset highlight the rock’s colors and textures, and the quiet location offers plenty of freedom to find the right composition.
Travel Information
