Esperanza Base is an Argentine research station located on the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. It is one of the few bases in Antarctica where families have lived year-round, and even includes a school and small community facilities.

Photography Tips

On a ship, there are many tricks to find interesting compositions. For example, you can take all sorts of little holes in the ship to make use of. These help you to create a framing and change perspective to not always have the same angle and height. Also, move between decks.

Travel Information

You can’t travel independently to Esperanza Base. Visitors typically arrive on expedition cruises to Antarctica, most of which depart from Ushuaia and include a landing at Hope Bay if conditions allow.
