Lake Salfeiner is a stunning alpine lake located in the Stubai Valley in Tyrol, Austria, at an altitude of around 1,600 meters. Surrounded by towering peaks and lush meadows, the lake offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. It’s a popular destination for hiking, nature walks, and photography, especially in summer when the landscape is vibrant with wildflowers. The area is also known for its crystal-clear waters, ideal for peaceful reflection shots. Salfeinssee is easily accessible and offers a perfect spot for those looking to experience the natural beauty of the Austrian Alps.

Photography Tips

When photographing Salfeinssee, take advantage of the stunning natural beauty surrounding the lake. For the best shots, aim to capture the lake’s crystal-clear water, which mirrors the alpine peaks on calm days. Early morning or late afternoon light offers soft, golden tones, perfect for creating dramatic reflections and capturing a peaceful ambiance. A wide-angle lens is ideal for showcasing both the lake and the towering mountains, while a polarizing filter can help reduce glare from the water and enhance the colors of the sky and landscape. For close-up shots, focus on the wildflowers and alpine flora around the lake’s edge, using a shallow depth of field to make the plants stand out against the blurred background. If you’re shooting panoramic views, try stitching multiple frames together to capture the full breadth of the landscape. Lastly, keep an eye on the weather, as the changing light and cloud cover can add a dramatic effect to your images.

When you click at the lake at TIRIS and select: Was befindet sich hier, you find following information: Name: k.A (keine Angabe) Typ: Stehendes Gewässer Gewässer ID: T1963R1 Stand: 10.12.2012 However, it is not so important. Most important - the loction is nice, but nowdays to crowded at normal daytime.

Hi Paul, in current official maps like TIRIS, the lake is officially called "Salfeinssee". Schönangerlsee is the older name, which can still be found in older maps.
