Twillingate has the promising nickname “Iceberg Capital of the World.” The coast of Newfoundland is one of the best places in the world to see icebergs in it's "Iceberg Alley". Of course, there are no guarantees, and if the wind blows continuously from the south or southwest, the chances of seeing icebergs are very slim. But when these colossals, containing over 10,000 years of absolutely pure fresh water, can be seen there, it is more than impressive.

Photography Tips

From land, I recommend a telephoto lens, and with a bit of luck, some icebergs are so firmly grounded that you can even try long exposures. Look for special patterns or details. Incidentally, this iceberg was named “The Grinch.”
If the (weather) conditions are right, you can see icebergs from land almost everywhere in Twillingate, for example.
