Greenland Rypefjord, Scoresbysund

ypefjord in Scoresbysund is surrounded by steep mountains, layered rock formations, and a landscape shaped by glaciers and time. The calm waters reflect the rugged peaks, while icebergs drifting through the fjord add another layer to the scenery. A remote and impressive place to explore by boat, with new perspectives around every bend.

Use a tele lens to capture the sailing boat in front, with icebergs and towering mountains creating a sense of scale. Keep the boat positioned slightly off-center and use the surrounding landscape as a natural frame. Shoot from a low angle near the waterline when possible to include reflections and create a more dynamic composition.

Watch out for some glaciers up in the mountains. If it's moody day you can create an insane minimalistic atmosphere in your photo.

Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
