Greenland “Iceberg graveyard”, Scoresbysund

Near Røde Ø (Red Island) in Scoresbysund, Greenland, the aptly named “Iceberg Graveyard” is a shallow stretch of water where enormous icebergs become grounded and slowly melt away. The stark white ice, rust-red sandstone cliffs, and calm fjord waters create an otherworldly Arctic landscape.

For a strong water reflection, get the camera very low, almost at water level, and use a wide-angle lens. Keep the horizon straight and look for calm water to create a clear reflection.

Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
