Greenland Ankervig, Scoresbysund

Ankervig, in Scoresbysund, is surrounded by dramatic Arctic landscapes, where steep mountains meet the calm waters of the fjord. The remote setting and changing light create a quiet, almost untouched atmosphere.

Photographing from a Zodiac at a low perspective brings you close to the water, creating a strong sense of depth and scale. The calm surface adds reflections, while the low angle makes the mountains and landscape feel more powerful and dynamic.

Use a long zoom lens for a scale shot with an iceberg and the red island. It's a great chance to show the scale and the contrast between the white / blue ice / water and the red sediments / stones.

Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
