Greenland Moon glacier, Scoresbysund

Moon Glacier is one of the remote, wild corners of Scoresbysund, where the glacier meets a landscape scattered with drifting sea ice. The many ice floes create an ideal hunting environment for polar bears, making this area one of the places where encounters are possible. Surrounded by silence, mountains and endless ice, it feels like one of the truly untouched places in East Greenland.

1. Create dynamic frames
Use the deck, ropes, masts and other boat elements to frame your shots and add depth and movement.

2. Polar bears: go long & fast
Use a long lens, high shutter speed and burst mode to capture fast, unpredictable movements and increase your chance of getting the perfect moment.

3. First light & minimalism
Place a simple object in front of a massive glacier and focus on the spot where the first light hits. The contrast in scale and light can create a dramatic, minimalist image.

Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
