Iceland Skardsviti Lighthouse
The Skarðsviti Lighthouse is a small, picturesque lighthouse located on the northern part of the Vatnsnes Peninsula in Iceland. Built in 1950 and automated in 1992, it ensures safe navigation in the rough Arctic waters and stands out with its striking red tower against the dramatic coastal landscape.
Photography Tips
There is no path to the lighthouse, but you can see it easily from the road. Just walk through the grass to the spot or take your photos from the road, with a drone, etc.
Travel Information
The Lighthouse Skardsviti is located at the Road 711 which is very good accessible from the city Hvammstangi over a tarmac road. Only the last two km are gravel, if you have no 4x4 that should be no problem, but take care of sharp stones.
There is no parking lot, but in the off season you can park at the road, when there is not much traffic from the locals. A few hundred meters after the lighthouse is an old farmhouse which seems not inhabited - parking there is also possible.
