Italy Seiser Alm in South Tyrol
This spot is perfect to photograph the two mountains "Langkofel" and "Plattkofel" on the Seiser Alm in the Dolomites. These two mountains are very characteristic for the Seiser Alm - the largest high-altitude alpine meadow in europe. In autumn after sunset you can see the alpine glow. This is an optical phenomenon - the mountains are illuminated by the last atmospheric light and they're glowing in deep red and magenta colors.
Photography Tips
Wait until the sunset is over. About 15-30 minutes after it the glow will begin to start. You have to use a tripod, because it's quite dark and you need long exposures. Use the little huts as a foreground to give a depth to your image.
Travel Information
You have to park your car on the parking lot near to the cable car station in the village of Compatsch. You can reach Compatsch by car only between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. And driving along the street to the location is prohibited to non-residents. So you have to walk approx 30-45min. But it's worth the walk!!
