About the location
The cathedral is unique for its architectural transition, showcasing Romanesque elements in the choir and high Gothic styles in the nave and facade. Inside, the 14th-century astronomical clock is a technical marvel and a favorite subject for detail shots, while the 13th-century stained glass rose windows offer breathtaking colors when backlit by the sun. The building's placement at the foot of the Fourvière hill also allows for interesting compositions involving the Basilica above and the historic streets of Vieux Lyon surrounding it.
