The region has a long and storied history, including occupation by the Romans and the Moors. Today various historical ruins and buildings can be seen in the region. The Algarve also draws a huge amount of religious tourists, as there are a variety of pilgrimages in the area. Travel tips for Algarve

The Algarve can get extremely busy in the high season, which could be irritating if you like to travel in a quieter environment. It can also be extremely hot in the summer, with temperatures reaching above 30 degrees celsius. These factors may make it easier for you to visit in the shoulder or off season.
