Singapore Singapore National Stadium At National Day

The Singapore National Stadium is the spectacular centrepiece of Singapore’s annual National Day celebrations on 9 August. The huge domed stadium is not only an architectural landmark but also the main stage for the National Day Parade, with military displays, performances and the famous fireworks forming the highlight of the evening.

The stadium is one of the best places to experience the scale of National Day. From the waterfront, you get a fantastic view of the illuminated stadium with the fireworks exploding directly above and behind it - and the reflections on the water make the scene particularly impressive for photography.

On National Day, you should find a good spot early (from around 3:00–3:30 pm) and stay there, as tens of thousands of people gradually arrive and pack themselves in tightly.

A good tripod or a high ISO is recommended. The fireworks start sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 pm and last approximately 15–20 minutes.

Outside of National Day, you can generally find a comfortable spot at Kallang Basin without any problem.

It is best to use the MRT (metro) to get here, as parking can be difficult to find. After the fireworks, traffic increases dramatically and many roads are closed, making it very difficult to get around by car.
