Ny Alesund is the northern most settlement in the world. It's literally the last stop before the North Pole. These days it mostly inherits scientists. Leftovers from the initial purpose which was coal mining are still to be found everywhere around.

Use a tele-zoom lens outside the city for a closer composition between the city and the radar station in the back. Don´t go alone, this area is a high risk one for polar bears. You just should go outside the city with a guide who has a weapon.
