In The Shadows of The Cuillin
Elgol is a small village in the South of Skye near the end of the Strathaird peninsula. Located on the shores of Loch Scavaig, Elgol offers unmatched views of the Black Cuillin range looking north across the loch. On the beach, interesting rock formations abound and provide a fertile playground for landscape photographers. I really enjoyed composing this image and playing with some of my ND filters and long exposure techniques. This place is a must for any photographers planning a trip to the Isle of Skye! For this photo, I made use of my LEE 0.9 ND grad and my Big Stopper.

Photography Tips
The beach would be ideal for sunrise or sunset but owing to the near constant cloud cover on Skye midday photos can turn out great also. This image was taken in the early afternoon.

Park up at the Elgol Village Hall and walk down to the beach. The hall has a small cafe/gift shop and bathroom.
