USA Alstrom Point, Lake Powell View
One of the most exciting views on lake powell with a relativly sketchy access.
Photography Tips
Come here at least 1 hour before sunset, since you have so many spots to capture from various perspective. Sunset lighting works beautifully here, whether shooting with front light or backlight. When there is a proper cloud condition, don’t limit yourself to shooting only toward Gunsight Bay. Other viewpoints are just as rewarding.
Summer is likely the best time to visit, as Lake Powell’s water levels are often lower in winter. However, this location remains an excellent sunrise and sunset viewpoint throughout the year. Camping here is well worth it, with beautiful light at dawn and dusk and impressive night skies.
Bring a 16–35mm wide-angle lens and a 100mm+ telephoto lens. You can capture both sweeping landscapes and fine details from a distance.
You can also bring a drone here, but make sure you do not break the restrictions from Glen National Recreation.

Travel Information
Make sure to download offline maps in advance. I reached this location using Google Maps offline. I recommend avoiding this drive within a week after heavy rain.
A capable 4WD SUV is required—especially for the final 2 miles, where there is almost no road and you’ll need to drive slowly over uneven, rocky terrain. You can find detailed driving conditions and route guides on YouTube.
