USA Green River Overlook

A great spot to look out over the vast expanse of the Green River Canyon at Green River Overlook. From the edge, the layered cliffs and the winding river below stretch far into the distance, giving a strong sense of scale and openness.

Photography Tips

Placing someone near the edge helps show how vast the canyon really is. Both a wide-angle lens and a telephoto can work well, depending on whether you want to capture the scale or isolate details. This spot is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

Travel Information

From the Island in the Sky Visitor Center, follow the main park road (Grand View Point Road) for about 10 km, passing Shafer Canyon and Mesa Arch. Turn right onto Upheaval Dome Road, then shortly after left onto Green River Overlook Road. After about 2 km, you’ll reach the viewpoint – the drive is short and suitable for any vehicle. A parking area is located right at the viewpoint.
