Georgia Areal View of Beshumi, Georgia
Seen from high above, Beshumi reveals its true scale. Hundreds of small seasonal houses spread across the alpine valley and surrounding hills, their colorful roofs creating a patchwork between forests and open meadows. The village sits at around 1,900 meters in the mountains of Adjara, and when clouds drift through the valley, entire sections can appear and disappear within minutes.
Photography Tips
From this perspective, gain enough altitude with the drone to show Beshumi as part of the wider mountain landscape rather than focusing on individual houses. Changing weather is a major photographic advantage here: wait for breaks in the clouds to create patches of sunlight across the village and hills. Shooting through thin layers of mist can add incredible depth, with the colorful rooftops gradually disappearing into the clouds. A wide horizontal composition works particularly well to communicate the scale of the settlement.
Travel Information
Beshumi lies high in the Adjara mountains near Goderdzi Pass and is primarily a summer settlement, becoming much livelier during the warmer months. The elevated location means conditions can be completely different from Batumi, with fog, rain, and low clouds possible even when the coast is sunny. The wider area is best explored by car, allowing you to stop at different elevations around the village and combine Beshumi with Goderdzi Pass, Green Lake and other mountain locations.
