Near Bear Island (Bjørne Øer), rugged mountains rise steeply from the water, surrounded by glaciers and dramatic Arctic landscapes. The combination of dark rock, flowing ice and remote wilderness makes this a particularly impressive part of the fjord.
Photography Tips
Use a long lens to compress the mountains and glaciers, while adding a strong sense of scale by including the sailing boat or a person in the frame. Keep an unsharp foreground element, such as part of the boat, to create depth and make the image feel more immersive and dynamic.
Travel Information
Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
