About the location
The bridge itself features weathered timber planks and rustic railings that provide excellent leading lines for compositions. Photographers are drawn to the juxtaposition of the man-made structure against the wild, crashing waves and the ancient sandstone of the island. On the mainland side, the surrounding La Perouse area offers diverse foreground elements like rock pools and weathered platforms that add depth to wide-angle shots. The location gained popular culture fame as a filming site for Mission Impossible II, but for photographers, its real value lies in its timeless aesthetic and the way it interacts with the changing light of the New South Wales coast.
