About the location
Rising approximately 75 meters above the valley floor near Neustadt (Wied), the bridge offers numerous vantage points from the surrounding hiking trails and the banks of the Wied River. The scale of the structure is best captured from below, where the perspective highlights the immense height and the repeating patterns of the support columns. In the morning, the valley often traps mist, allowing photographers to capture the bridge emerging from a sea of white, which adds a mysterious and ethereal quality to the otherwise industrial subject matter. The surrounding Westerwald landscape provides a seasonal frame, with vibrant greens in spring and deep oranges in autumn that contrast sharply with the gray concrete of the bridge.
