About the location
The castle's history is as rugged as its landscape, having withstood sieges and protected the Honours of Scotland. For photographers, the juxtaposition of the ancient, weathered masonry against the churning turquoise and gray waters of the North Sea provides endless opportunities for dramatic landscape shots. The site offers a variety of perspectives, from wide-angle views of the entire promontory from the surrounding cliffs to intimate shots of the archways and surviving rooms within the complex itself.
